I’m learning the very hard way that clarity is a key to success. I’ve floundered a bit in my day. Ok, a lot. When I have a clear goal, I’m like a guided missile, nothing can stop me. But when I’m wishy washy about where I’m heading, nothing gets done. I spin my wheels and “feel” like I’m working, but when I go to bed I never seem to have done enough or made any real progress. Nod along with me here.
One area I’m working hard on is clarity. What do I want? One of my favorite scenes of all time is from Alice in Wonderland.(The book. Not the Disney movie)
Alice is talking with the Cheshire Cat. The exchange goes like this:
Alice: “Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
The Cheshire Cat: “That depends a good deal on where you want to get to.”
Alice: “I don’t much care where.”
The Cheshire Cat: “Then it doesn’t much matter which way you go.”
Do you have a plan for PA school or are you just clinging on for dear life? In the November issue of the Physician Assistant Exam Scholars Newsletter, we work a bit on clarity. For example, if you don’t have a plan, here are a few possible end points you might choose between:
– I want to learn as much medicine as possible
– I want to be able to treat patients well and with confidence
– I want to be a valuable member of a medical team
– I want to not fail out of PA school
– I want to pass my PANCE
– I want to start making some MONEY!
We go through each of them and, using these as a starting place, I show you what you should be studying. Because, until you decide where you want to go, it’s really hard to choose what to do to get there.

P.S. The PAES newsletter is a monthly PRINT newsletter that is mailed directly to your door covering topics in a much deeper and more thorough way than I possibly could in an email. If you get something out of the email content, you will LOVE the Physician Assistant Exam Scholars Newsletter.
