Last week, my wife and I did something decadent. We went to this place in town called The Salt Cave.
Here’s the premise: you go into this dark, quiet room with these unbelievable massage chairs. This lovely relaxing music is playing and then they saturate the air with salt. You hang out in this room for 45 minutes, and the tension just oozes out of you.
It was fantastic. Way better than any fancy dinner we could have gone to. We walked out of that place happier than we’ve been in a month. Here’s the other secret. I got more work done the next day than I had in a month.
While we were in there, I said “This is so nice.I know this helps me get more done, but I can never justify sitting in the bathtub for 30 minutes. There’s too much to do.”
The paradox is that when you take some time for yourself to refresh, you get more done in less time. You’re more focused and your brain is more receptive. If you work with your brain (and you do), you have to find ways to rest and refresh it or you’re hurting yourself.
Perhaps you’re a broke student, and The Salt Cave or a massage might be too extravagant for your empty pockets, but here’s something you can do:
TAKE TOMORROW OFF! In the morning, sleep in. Then maybe a nice bath and watch the parade in your robe.
Give your brain the rest it’s been screaming for on this lovely holiday.
You might be thinking, “Brian’s off his rocker. I thought this email list was supposed to be giving me tips about passing school and the exam.”
This, my good friend, may be the most valuable piece of advice I can give you to help you pass school and your exams.
