What do you listen to?

As you may know, I’m a big fan of a company called focus@will. I’m using their stuff right now. They produced these soundtracks that drop me into writing like nothing else. My brain just clicks into the zone the second I put my headphones on, and I’m gone. The world melts away, and I can focus on one task and get that thing done like Michael Jordan driving to the hoop. It feels so good.

It beats any soundtrack or YouTube playlist I’ve found. One, it’s easy and, two, I don’t know if the mumbo-jumbo they say about the way they create their sound is true, but I do know it works better than anything else I’ve tried.

I’ve been using it since…. Well, for almost 10 years now.

Another method I like is to put a song on repeat. Yup, one song. Let it play over and over and over. You pick up the mood of the song, but the words and the melodies fade into a background-din that can be great for getting work done.

This morning, I was reading about something else I’m going to be testing out called AMSR rooms. I’ve found one that’s a nice cabin-on-lake-with-gentle-thunderstorm-going-on-in-the-background.

I’m hopeful this’ll give me another option at least when I have WiFi access.

What do you listen to while you study?
