Here’s the quick version. I graduated from Rutgers. I love the faculty. I did the live course when I graduated PA school, and I did the review course at home years later for my PANRE. I’ve recommended it on this page for years.
But here’s the thing: I haven’t used the new courses, and I don’t know the new faculty. So, as much as I’d like to keep recommending it, I just can’t put my own seal of approval on it. I’m sure they do a great job, because they always do.
What the course is now
It’s a four-day board review every May, live in Piscataway or by livestream, with an on-demand option if you can’t make the dates. You get four 100-question practice exams with explanations and a lot of CME. Current dates, prices, and registration are on the Rutgers review course page.
What I do instead
After fifteen years with PA students, I stopped believing more content was the fix. Most people who struggle on the PANCE already know the material. The score comes down to six skills: content, clinical reasoning, test taking, anxiety, peak performance, and studying. That’s what I train now.
It isn’t an IQ problem. It’s a skills problem, and skills are learnable.
If you’re comparing options, start here: Where to Start. It’s one page. One program most students should do, and three reasons you might do something else.
