The whole point of going to PA school is to get a job WORKING as a PA. Helping people, saving lives, and generally making the world a better place.
What is the BEST way to find a job right of PA School? That’s simple – making friends.
Seriously. Networking on rotations is probably THE best way to FIND and LAND a job. Especially when you’re right out of school and have zero experience. Although that’s the best way, there are loads of reasons why this won’t work for everyone.
– You’re not doing a rotation anywhere you’d like to work.
– You’re moving across the country after PA school.
– You hated your stupid preceptors and never, ever want to work for those morons.
– Due to COVID -19, your rotations have been cut short and your old preceptors already don’t remember you.
That list can go on and on.
I talk a lot about having multiple ways to win. Here it comes up again. You need multiple strategies in order to get a job. If you’re relying on any one thing, you’ve got a serious problem. Using one technique on its own is a bad strategy.
When the goblin army is coming to attack your castle, you don’t come up with one plan to defend it. King John says, “I know. I’ll put all of my archers on the front wall. They won’t dare come at us that way.”
Well yes, but hang on a minute. What if they come in the back way? You’ve got to have another plan.
What if you’re first plan isn’t working? What else can you do?
Job boards? Job boards are ok and should account for some of your search, but definitely not all of it. Job boards should make up less than 50% of your search for sure.
If you use job boards, there are some simple ways to boost you right up to the top of applicants rather than landing at the bottom of a massive pile of digital resumés. I’ll get to that in a minute.
Are there any other ways of to get yourself that corner office with the shiny pressed long white coat?
Yup, and I’m going to tell you all about them. I’m going to tell you how to move to the top of the stacks of resumes, and I’m going to show you how to look for job in a way that won’t even require a resume. It’s amazing and plenty of people in the PAER community have done it.
I know it works because I wrote about the techniques in the July and August 2018 issues of the Physician Assistant Exam Scholars Newsletter, and I’ve been getting CRAZY feedback ever since. Feedback about people creating jobs out of thin air. Stories about people turning down excellent offers for AMAZING offers.
Sadly, these issues have been collecting dust these many months. Every time I get an email telling me about another dream job landed, I feel compelled to release them again.
With the economy slowing to a snail’s pace, even PAs are struggling to find work. In 2021, I finally heard enough outcries and put together the Dream Job Package to show people exactly how to get what they want in good times OR IN BAD TIMES, and on Thursday I’m rereleasing it for anyone graduating in 2022.
The problem is that in good times, it’s easy to find a good job. And for PAs, it’s been good times for a long time. Today though it’s a little different. You’re going to have to work a little harder, but I promise you there is plenty of opportunity out there.
Click below take a peak at what’s coming on Thursday. Alternatively, you could ignore all of this just wait by the phone for them to call you back.
