The whole point of going to PA school is to get a job WORKING as a PA. Helping people, saving lives, and generally making the world a better place.
What is the BEST way to find a job right of PA School?
That’s an easy one: Making friends.
Seriously. Networking on rotations is probably THE best way to FIND and LAND a job. Especially when you’re right out of school and have zero experience. Although that’s the best way, there are loads of reasons why this won’t work for you.
– You’re not doing a rotation anywhere you’d like to work.
– You’re moving across the country after PA school.
– You hated your stupid preceptors and never, ever want to work for or with those morons.
That list can go on and on.
The other thing is that you should be using multiple avenues when looking for a job. One technique on its own is almost always a mistake.
What else can you do besides making friends?
Job boards perhaps?
Job boards are okay and should account for some of your search, but definitely not all of it. Job boards should make up less than 50% of your search for sure. Are you or do you plan on using anything else? Think for just a second about how you’d go about looking for something.
If you do use job boards, there are some simple ways to boost you up to the top of applicants rather than landing at the bottom of a massive pile of digital résumés. I’ll get to that in a minute.
Are there any other ways to get yourself that corner office with the shiny pressed long white coat?
Yup, and I’m going to tell you all about them. I’m going to tell you how to move to the top of the stacks of resumes and I’m going to show you how to look for job in a way that won’t even require a resume. It’s amazing and plenty of people in the PAER community have done it.
I know it works because I wrote about the techniques in the July and August 2018 issues of the Physician Assistant Exam Scholars Newsletter, and I’ve been getting CRAZY feedback ever since. Feedback that you wouldn’t believe, like people creating jobs out of thin air. Stories about people turning down excellent offers for even more excellent offers.
Sadly, these issues of PAES have been collecting dust these many months. Every time I get an email telling me about another dream job landed, I feel compelled to release them again.
And so, this weekend I’m doing just that. But better.
I’m also adding in issue #32 which covers getting a job with no experience and 10 video trainings I recorded to answer the most pressing questions that come up.

Alternatively, you could ignore all of this and take whatever comes along. Up to you.

P.S. I’m also including something really special. I don’t ever do job coaching calls, tutoring, or academic coaching, but as my kids get older I’m finding my time slightly more available. I offered one lucky chap the opportunity to discuss his career options and he graciously allowed me to record the entire call. When you purchase Dream Job, you’ll get the hour long recording of that call which is packed with how to implement all of things you’ll learn to do in Dream Job.
