To get lucky you have to be prepared to get lucky. You have to have your eyes open. You have to know what you’re looking for. Luck doesn’t happen to people sitting on the couch.
What’s that famous line from a pro golfer? (Can’t remember his name at the moment)
“The more I practice the luckier I get.”
That is dead on. You need luck, but you have to be in the right place to get lucky. In this case, I’m talking about being prepared. There is a constant gnashing of teeth over not having enough time to get it done. Not enough time, no room.
But what happens when class is cancelled? What happens when you get 8 inches of snow and your preceptors says, “Don’t come in today?” What happens when a surgery you were supposed to be in gets cancelled due to the patient having had a piece of gum? Do you spend that time playing candy crush or boom beach?
It’s easy to slip into those escapes in your free time. Why? Because they are designed to be easy. They are designed to be fun and simple. You’re more than fun and simple. You’re working toward a goal. You’re on a mission.
Here’s how you escape that trap. HAVE A PLAN. Know where you’re heading. If you know what comes next, then, when you get a minute or 30 of “free” time, you can use it to push your goals forward. Everyone else will say, “Let’s go get some coffee.” And you’ll say “Nope, I’m on a mission and I know what I need to do next to get me where I want to go.”
Since where you want to go is passing PA school, the PANCE, or the PANRE, let me help you along the way. Physician Assistant Exam Scholars is a group I’ve put together to help students and PAs with the whole picture. Not just the content, but EVERYTHING.
The programs main component is the monthly newsletter where we delve deeply into one topic that will help move you forward. The April issue covers a very specific way of studying and note taking that will help you to see what information is worth studying and what you should drop.
You can imagine what would happen if we could discard 25% of what you’re studying and either recapture that time for fun or use it to focus on the rest of the material. You’d be done faster AND your scores would skyrocket. That isn’t a big jump. I genuinely believe you can turn that corner.
Let’s work together and get you the scores you deserve.

P.S. The April issue will come with an audio version (recorded by yours truly) delivered through the PAER app. The great part is that it’ll be right on your phone on April 1st while the print newsletter takes about a week to print and get to your door.
