I like to call it the paying for breakfast principal.
It’s the idea of being nice generous or a superstar when it’s easy. I get it when it’s hard to look the other way to avoid being nice. It may not be the right thing to do, but at least it makes sense. What I love to do is keep an eye out for when it’s so easy to be nice and take full advantage of those opportunities.
After a baseball game, the dugout has a few empty Gatorade bottles on the floor. I pick them up and throw them in the garbage. Ah, nice clean dugouts. It takes almost no effort at all. The example the AMAZING Jim Rohn used to use was turning off the lights when you leave a hotel room. It only takes a second, but you’ve done a service for the world, and even if no one notices, you feel a little better about yourself for your contribution.
I’m not recommending you go up and down the hall knocking on doors in the hotel asking people to turn off their lights. But I am suggesting as you leave the hotel room and you click the switch to the off position because it’s so easy.
I call it the paying for breakfast principal Because I think you should always pick up the check at breakfast. Breakfast is cheap, but it’s such a welcome gesture. I get it if you’re out to a fancy dinner you don’t want to drop three for $500 to be nice but it breakfast you’re usually talking about 10 or $20. I’m happy to fork that kind of cash over to make someone’s day. Two guys delivered a large piece of furniture to my house this morning. I paid extra to have it delivered with whatever they call the “put it where you want it” service. I knew it was going to my basement, so it was completely worth it. The guys were here fifteen minutes, and I tipped them each ten dollars. That was probably the best twenty dollars I’ve spent in the last month. It made their day an left me feeling like a great human.
Well, I’ve got another easy one for you. Not only can you look like a rockstar but you don’t have to spend a nickel. In fact, you stand to gain the most out of anyone. Here’s how it works, set up a group rate discount for your classmates on The Final Step. A group discount will drop the cost significantly for your classmates, AND you’ll get your copy for free while being a great person. But the sweetest part of the deal is that you get your book for free. That’s right not only do you help out your classmates but you get a free copy of the final step for your travels. Now that’s the pay for breakfast principal in action.
Just reply to this email if you think you might be interested in, and I’ll walk you through the details.
