No, silly, not study questions. Get a life; it’s New Year’s Eve! Take a break. Breathe a little. It’s good for you.
I love the New Year because it works like a bump in the road. It forces you to slow down for a second and look around, assess the situation: I know I’m working hard, but am I “head down” working, in the wrong direction? Have I just been digging a ditch all year that I know I‘ll have to fill back in? Yeah, I was working hard, but does it move things forward? Or am I spinning my wheels?
I was going to keep going, but I think that’s enough clichés in one paragraph.
Here’s a list of questions for you to answer tonight:
What are you doing now that you love?
What’s one thing you’d like to do less of in 2020?
What’s one thing you’d like to do more of in 2020?
List five things you accomplished that you’re proud of in 2019.
Think of one thing that was left undone AGAIN in 2019.
Share a time when you were happy in 2019.
What one thing would make you proudest of yourself if you accomplish it in 2020?
How many push-ups can you do right now? What would you like that number to be at the end of 2020?
What was the biggest mistake you made in 2019?
What was your favorite song in 2019?
Name one skill you learned or improved in 2019.
What was your most common mental state in 2019? What would you like it to be in 2020?
This is a fun activity and it gives you something to think about – where you are, where you’re going.
Before you get to the joy and merrymaking, sign up to get the first issue of 2020 of the Physician Assistant Exam Scholars. I usually stick to one theme per issue, but for January I’m doling out New Year’s advice on a bunch of different topics. The best of the best. Get signed up before you go out partying. I want you to have the best 2020 you can have; those who receive the January issue of PAES will be off to pretty good start.
The clock is ticking.
