A while back, I was studying social studies with my older kid. One of the Vocabulary terms we were covering was “harbor.”
We’ve been using the term “harbor” at home more than you’d normally think to hear in a suburban, landlocked household because we’ve been playing a ton of Settlers of Catan (it’s a great board game if you’re not familiar). In the game, one strategy to win is to control the harbors for trade. My little guy is really good at the game. He understands the different strategies and loves to play.
As I come across the term, I thought it was a great opportunity for him to show off what an eight-year-old probably shouldn’t know yet, “Hey buddy, what’s a harbor?”
“Oh, I know. It’s the place where we go to get our hair cut.”
I hit the floor I was laughing so hard
Proper terminology matters, whether you’re speaking on rounds or taking your test. You’ve gotta get the words right.
The Final Step will help.
