Ever give a presentation? Public speaking?
If you have, I’m sure someone has told you that if you get nervous, you should picture the audience naked. I never really understood that advice. I mean… that takes a lot of mental energy. Not to mention, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t like what I’d see.
While reading Psychocybernetics (for the third time), an idea hit me like a ton of bricks. You don’t picture them naked; that’s silly.
But you do picture something in your mind’s eye. Colloquial wisdom had that part right. This method has taken people terrified of public speaking and turned them into career speakers.
The funny thing is, it’s the same thing you picture walking into an exam. I’ve been using this trick for years with crazy success, and I didn’t even know I was doing it.
