Which book is the best resource to use?
Although I’d say The Final Step, of course (it’s coming real soon I promise), this is a terrible question. Do you think it was the type of paintbrush that DaVinci used that made all the difference?
Stephen King talks about it in his book “On Writing.”
Paraphrasing here, King talks about how he gets asked all the time what pencils he uses. They ask over and over whether he writes longhand or uses a typewriter. King gets frustrated here because these are terrible questions.
It isn’t about the resources or the paint brushes or the pencils.
It’s about the mindset and the habits and the work. There is no magic bullet.
Well, maybe that isn’t exactly true, but it isn’t what you’re thinking. It isn’t a book or a video course or anything like that.
There is one resource I used for the entire time I studied, and I could never have gotten it all done without this one resource.
Focus@Will is a company that creates music for you to study/concentrate/work too. It is amazing. With this in my ears, I can spend hours and hours studying and not feel awful. I can stay… well, focused on what I’m doing with minimal effort.
I have a pair of AirPods. You know, the noise canceling kind, and holy crap it’s amazing. The kids could be tearing down the house, and I’d be happily reading away in my office with the Focus@Will running through my head. For five years I used it with normal headphones, and it was the best – now it is amazing!!
