Yesterday we talked about winning before it begins – seeing yourself taking the victory lap. Seeing yourself opening that email for the passing score and dancing around the room.
If you can’t see it in your mind first, it’s almost impossible.
Last summer, my travel baseball team was in a tough tournament. We were battling in the semi-finals when we strung together a walk and a hit to put runners on first and second with one out. The opposing coach walked out to the mound to talk to his pitcher, and as he did the kid held out the ball as if to give it to the coach.Effectively saying, “I guess I’m done.”
No argument, no fight, no vision for success. The coach left him in, and I knew right then that we were going to win. The kid had already lost the game in his mind.
If you are defeated before you begin, your chances of success are zilch. You got to see victory. You’ve got to see yourself answering the questions correctly and smiling when you see things that are familiar on your exam.
