I try to start each day with a gratitude list. A list of things I’m grateful for. It puts things immediately into perspective and wipes out a lot of the daily tensions.
• I’m thankful for my healthy children
• I’m thankful for the sun being out today
• I’m thankful for a wife who supports and loves me
• I’m thankful for the PAER community
• I’m thankful for working in surgery
• I’m thankful for the people I work with
• I’m thankful for hot water
• I’m thankful for heat for my house
• I’m thankful for the food my family eats
• I’m thankful for the teachers my children have had
• I’m thankful for the friends in our community here in Pennsylvania
• I’m thankful for seeing (and liking) my extended family today
• I’m thankful for the Thank You’s I get from the PAER community
The list could go on and on. Remember it isn’t about having the most or being the best. It’s about getting better every day. About being more than you were yesterday. About living the life you have in front of you not wishing you were someone else.
Take a breather, and no matter how stressed out you are there are plenty of things you’ve accomplished already and plenty of things to be thankful for.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
