Well not completely (that would be crazy), but close. I’m a coffee junkie. Nothing fancy. I don’t care if it’s made with dishwater, I go through 2,3, or even 6 cups a day, no problem. As I’m getting a wee bit older, I’m starting to worry about things like blood pressure. So I decided that maybe 10 cups of coffee a day are not so good for the old ticker. I decided to cut back.
I’m now down to one or maybe two cups per day max and I haven’t missed it one little bit.
Here’s what I did:
– Introduced lots of tea. I like warm drinks. I like Yogi tea, but any warm drink will do. Anytime I get a hankering for a cup of coffee, I brew some tea instead.
– Exercise first thing in the morning. I’m not talking about an hour of crossfit. No, no, no. I’m talking about 10 squats, 10 lunges b/l, 10 pushups, and 10 side squats. Just enough to raise the heart rate and raise core body temperature. Raising core body temperature is a signal to your brain that it’s time to wake up.
– I get up at 5 or 5:30 but I don’t have my one morning cup of coffee until around 9 am. Instead of an eye-opener, that one cup is little brain boost.
I feel clearer throughout the day, and don’t have that brain crash as often (It still happens, but not daily). I’m as shocked as anyone, but I’m more clear-headed and less tired, on a whole lot less caffeine.
It takes a little time to implement (and watch out for the headaches if you’re as addicted as me). Take it slow. Replace one cup of coffee with tea per day. Try the light exercise when you wake up and hold off your coffee for 30 minutes to an hour after getting up. Then, increase from there.
Now with that clear mind, you can do a better job reviewing with The Final Step. Those questions will fly by and stick right in your mushy brain.
