Christine had failed her exam. Then she found the light, and she wrote in to share it.
Dear Brian,
First and foremost I would like to thank you for all that you do with the podcast. It was extremely helpful for me in my SECOND attempt to pass the PANRE. I took the PANRE after taking the CME resource class and studying on my own. I walked out of that exam feeling that I failed and hold and behold, when I got my results back I was 6 points from passing. I was devastated and felt absolutely defeated.
I took one month off of studying to reset, bought more review books and found your podcast. I listened to your podcast whenever I was in the car, and all of your talks were so pertinent. It helped reinforced everything I read in review books. My tip for others would be to do as many exam questions as they can. It got me into the test-taking mode, and like you said, active learning is much better than passive learning and retention was much higher.
Continue your great work and thank you for helping working PAs out here like me.
Many gratitude,
Christine, PA-C
Christine is no different than you.She failed because she had the wrong approach, not because she isn’t good at her job, or isn’t good PA or isn’t smart.
I wish she’d shared her score because I’ve had people tell me their scores went up by over 100 points after taking my advice. It isn’t that I’m anything special, it’s just that my system for getting ready was honed over 20 years.I’ve been using it and refining it that long. I add and take away from it consistently.I’ve been helping PAs pass and get there C for almost ten years now and believe me internet people are not shy about sharing their feelings and what they think I can do better.
I’ve learned a lot.
The approach I teach works. The best place to learn that approach is by joining the Physician Assistant Exam Scholars. PAES is a monthly PRINT newsletter where I go into depth on topics that will advance your career, your test taking, and you’re studying. Those newsletters have been described as pure gold by PAES members, and the May issue is no different.
This month I give you a robust framework for studying. We go over several studies that demonstrate how to make you smarter! If you’ve got studying to do you do not want to miss this issue.
