With Covid, I’ve been trying to keep my kids home and occupied without resorting to endless hours of video games.
We’ve been playing a lot of board games, a favorite of theirs being Settlers of Catan. My kids love it, and it’s tough to beat either one of them. There are a bunch of ways to win, but most of them involve building stuff and, in order to build, you need resources. If you can control the harbors, you can get resources very cheap which is a big advantage.
One night when we weren’t playing, I was helping my oldest son study for social studies. One of the vocabulary terms he had to know was “harbor.” I turned to my younger son and said, ““D-man, you know this one. What’s a harbor?”
His response, “Oh, I know. It’s the place where we go to get your haircut.”
I just about hit the floor I was laughing so hard.
Proper terminology matters – whether you’re speaking on rounds or taking your test. Get the words right.

P.S. If you’re willing to run a group order for your classmates, I can offer a significant discount on The Final Step. Shipping is a huge part of the cost, and group orders are much cheaper to ship. You don’t need to set up the whole group – you just need to be willing to let people know about the discount.
