I love to share when people hit it out of the park. I love it because it shows you what’s possible.
Here’s one of those:

I have been meaning to reply to one of these emails regarding the stated newsletters. Although I did not have the chance to read your letters prior to getting my first job, boy I wished I had, as I got into a situation that I did not see coming. I did not necessarily have a dream job in mind when I was done with school.
I went into primary care as I valued the advice that a number of years doing that would be a great base or springboard to the future. Which, at this point, is true but I didn’t do the proper research or test multiple waters prior to accepting the offer. I was recruited by the company that I did my family practice rotation in prior to graduation. Which was awesome, right?…. instant cash flow once I graduated. However, if I had looked for the cues, I would have known this would lead to disaster.
Once there, I shadowed for a while and then started seeing same-day appointments and started taking new patients until some owners saw this as a threat and cleared my schedule of their patients. Eventually moving me to their urgent care under disingenuous circumstances. That story is for another day. I then was stuck as a new PA with little experience trying to look for a job, trying not to look bad since I wanted to leave this great company, but I digress to my point.
[pay attention here folks. This is the BIG Take-home ]
I used those issues and points to look for a better opportunity and pitched an idea to my state’s only rheumatology clinic. They were looking for help but not exactly what I pitched. They loved it and hired me on the spot. All I really did was ask using your basic format.
