Heart failure is a major focus of the May issue of the Physician Assistant Exam Scholars Newsletter. Pages 10-15 are presented as an outline and a way to think about heart failure that will help you remember it forever. In my humble onion, heart failure is the key to cardiology.
Yesterday, I mentioned a learning method of breaking down the material into the most important components and focusing on those. Heart failure is that component for understanding the cardiology section of medicine. From there, I break that down even further to the major pieces to understand of heart failure. PAES members may also recognize this technique as the 80/20 of the 80/20.
Not too long ago, Melinda had this to say about a different PAES issue dealing with cardiology.

PAES was a great resource for me, especially later in my didactic year and during my clinical year and of course during PANCE preparation. There was one issue in particular that broke down cardiac murmurs, which just made things click for me. I also appreciated the advice on how to rock clinical rotations and cull anxiety prior to the PANCE. Brian is like that friend that is cheering you on while also giving you the good swift kick in the pants when you need it! The podcast was also a great resource that I used constantly while driving to and from rotations to help prep for EORs. Thank you so much, Brian, for all you have done for the PA community!

The way we cover things inside PAES will open you up to new ways of doing things. You won’t be trapped in the “work harder, stay up later” mantra anymore. I’ve got a technique to show you in the May issue that’ll change all of that and get you done in time for an early bedtime.
Better hurry though. Friday is the last day of the month and hence the last day to join PAES and still get the May issue. Click that link right there and let’s start working together.
