Are you a leader?

I’ve been thinking about being a leader. How do you dominate a room without a title? How are you the person in charge even if the surgeon is present? It’s about confidence and initiative.

There’s a great scene in The Dark Knight Rises when Bane, a huge muscular imposing character, is talking with his “boss.” His “boss” is a measly guy in a suit. They are alone, and the guy starts chewing out Bane for a perceived mistake. At one point, the guy says, “I’m in charge around here.”

Bane, towering over the man, rests his hand on his “boss’s” shoulder and says calmly, “Do you feel in charge?”

Bane owns the room. Bane owns everyone he comes in contact with. How? He puts himself in charge. That’s how.

You can be in charge from wherever you are. You don’t need to wait to be told to be a leader. You don’t need a title or some ceremonial garb. You just start doing it.

Look at me and this here website as an example. I just started one day. That was it. I didn’t ask anyone. I just got started.

Are you a leader at school? I’m not taking about student government, though I could be. Are you in the corner watching out for yourself or are you helping those around you? Are you making sure you get through or are you making sure everyone gets through? Are you in charge?

Can’t think of a way to get started? How about this? Set up a group order of The Final Step for your class.

Win #1 – You get your copy for free

Win #2 – Your classmates get a ridiculous deal on the best question book on the market today.

(A real live physical book. Not sure if some of you young whippersnappers know what that is, but I think you’ll like it.)

All you need to do to get the ball rolling is hit reply and say:

“Hey, Brian I’m totally interested in this amazing deal you’ve got going on. Can I get the details so that I can help all of my classmates pass their PANCE on the very first try and be a hero?”
