If you’re like most PA students, lots of things get you biting your nails. The sheer volume of material, test-taking anxiety, studying, not knowing enough, getting pimped on rounds, what will I do when I’m practicing medicine?
There are so many things you could worry about.
The older I get, the less I believe in worry .My old nurse used to flip out that I never worried about anything. She’d say, “Thank God your wife worries because someone has to.”
I thought that was hysterical.
Why? Why does someone have to worry? I’m all for thinking ahead and planning, but worrying? Worrying is what people do who don’t have a plan, who don’t take action.
“Worrying is practicing failure in advance.” Seth Godin.
Worrying and being scared are two different things. Worrying is more like anxiety — a general nonproductive fear that makes you worse, not better.
I’ve put a lot of work into naming your fears and helping you slay the fire-breathing dragon. It’s all inside the September issue of the Physician Assistant Exam Scholars Newsletter.
No need to be anxious when you’ve got skills and a plan.
