Fall has hit the Northeast. It isn’t bad yet… unless you’re out at a baseball game at night under then lights. Those fields are in the middle of, well, fields. So when the wind picks up, it is COLD.
That’s where I found myself this past weekend. Now, to give myself a bit of a pass, my son had games at 2:00 and 4:00.The sun would still be out. Then, they moved the games to 2:30 and 6:30.I saw the 2:30 update, but ignored the 6:30 one just assuming we’d be playing at 4:30.
When that sun when to down… oh man.
Unfortunately for me, I refuse to learn this lesson. Over and over, year after year, I have frozen on baseball fields. I have frozen on soccer fields, and I just keep doing it.
What’s that you say? Why not throw a coat in the car? Great question. Then I’d have it if I needed it. Very smart. Nope, I refuse even to do that. Some lessons you just don’t learn.
You know better. People tell you. And still, you refuse. Over and over again.
I’m sure I’m not alone here. Are there things you refuse to learn? Is there something that you just won’t do no matter how much you know it would be better?
– Going to bed on time
– Quitting smoking
– Flossing
– Taking a few deep breaths to settle your mind before an exam
– How about studying for The Final Step to build confidence in core medical knowledge?
– Work on your test-taking skills.
Plenty of easy things we could do to improve and help ourselves out, but we don’t do them. Well, this time I’m changing. I put a blanket in the trunk of my car and a blanket in the trunk of my wife’s car.
Be prepared.
Incidentally, the Physician Assistant Exam Scholars newsletter for the month of October is all about test-taking skills. If you think you might be able to up your game in that department, this might just be the way to do it.
