From the old mailbag

Hi Brian!

I am reading your old emails… Do you recommend taking 3 months to study for the PANCE even if I am not working and strictly devoting my time to studying? I was planning on taking 2 months and the CME review course?

Thank you,

Brittany

If you’re a student, you’ve been studying for years. You are just about ready. If you want to start slowly adding in review at the three-month point, I think that can work. Don’t overdo it. You know a lot already.

Personally, I took at one-week live review course, took a week off, and then took my PANCE. That was it.

I am a newcomer to the podcast! Just finished my first rotation as a 2nd year PA student and your podcasts have helped my studying so much, so thank you! I know you work in surgery, so was just curious if you had any tips/tricks or a specific podcast that may be helpful for my EOR exam in surgery in a few weeks.

Thanks!

Kelley

Surgery is a tough one because there is nothing specific to study. It’s a weird one. Let’s look at a Family Med for a minute, and let’s let one of our friendly community members explain how to handle EOR exams.

Brian!!

I passed my EORE for family medicine that I had to remediate!! Now I don’t need to embarrass myself by telling my friends I have to re-do a rotation!!

I used The Final Step which helped solidify key terms and jog my memory during the EORE exam.

Thank you for all the support you bring to the PA world. I enjoy the educational podcasts, and they are great, but I like your philosophical discussions more!

Figured I should leave the name off of this one, but you get the point.

I like Surgical Recall for a surgery rotation. That’s what I used. Now that I think about it, that book is probably the inspiration for The Final Step.
