Can’t sleep

“But Brian, what do you do at 4 AM when you only have two or three hours to sleep?”

We all know how important sleep is for brain function. The studies are pretty clear. Losing sleep is the same as going out for a few beers before an exam.

I’ve been there. Heck, just this past week we had a big fight with my son on his way up to bed. That set me off, and I couldn’t sleep. I had a big day of surgery ahead, and I just tossed and turned. Then, I remembered the technique I’d put into the September issue of the PAES newsletter, and I was out like a light.

There are loads of tools and techniques for helping you count sheep. I use a white noise machine and a fan .I prefer the temperature set to 70 or below, and I want the room as dark as possible.

I’m no expert on sleep, but I know what works for me and I’ve always got my eyes peeled for new ideas. I know how important sleep is for my mood and productivity, and I have no interest in taking pills before bed.

In the September issue of PAES, I cover two sleep techniques that will get you off to snoozeville, even on the night before your biggest test.
