​9 hours of surgery

Two spine fusions. I got home exhausted. My right shoulder was sore, and my feet hurt from standing in one spot for 9 hours. Ok, I did get a 15-minute “break” between cases when I checked in with my other surgeons, and the rest of my PA team and quickly ate a delicious PB&J.

I get home, and I’m tired. Like really tired.

Then, I thought about it. I had my hands on two different people’s spinal cords today. Not sort of, but for real. Literally touching the dura. Not many people get to say they get to do that every day.
